The gunmen believed to be political thugs invaded the residence of the traditional leader of his community on Monday evening and shot him dead while his children escaped.

"Immediately, I had to send in the army and the SSS to take over the compound and save them.

"I tried to ask him questions and he said he was supporting a particular party/candidate who hadn't gone over well with another party. He alleged that this might be the source of his murder. I have ordered the Commissioner of Police to fish out the perpetrators and their sponsors,” he said.

“It is so shocking, which would have informed people to kill the man. A man who has contributed so much to the development of the state.
