As ways to create clean energy become increasingly important, scientists and researchers are developing new methods of producing renewable energy from the ocean. One such method is to use wave swell, also known as blowing wave energy, to generate power. A research project has generated reliable clean power for Australia's King Island over the past 12 months and comes in the form of the aptly named UniWave 200. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about building the swell units, which channel waves through the unit to force air to spin a turbine to generate electricity.

The prototype 200 kilowatt wave renewable energy project has reported great results that exceed the company's expectations and the company now hopes to build more power units or integrate them into seawalls, breakwaters and coastal erosion prevention projects.

The New Atlas website writes: "While 2,500 MW of installed capacity may seem like a lot, the report notes that this is only about one-third of one percent of the installed capacity that the Solar and wind power had to produce before they reached the low costs they now enjoy. em>
