Watford boss Edwards counts on Dennis despite transfer rumors

Watford manager Rob Edwards has confirmed that Emmanuel Dennis will feature in the club's new season opener against Sheffield United at Vicarage Road on Monday despite uncertainty surrounding his future.

Dennis alongside Senegal international, Ismaila Sarr has been linked with an exit from the Hornets following the club's relegation from the Premier League last season.

The striker finished top scorer for the London club last season with 10 goals and 6 assists in 33 league appearances.

West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing the Nigerian international.

No club has been able to come up with a suitable offer for Dennis and Edwards has said he will continue to rely on the player.

"They (Emmanuel Dennis and Ismaila Sarr) are both very good players who have worked hard, and while they are at the club, of course, we will use them because they can help us. Why not use them,” Edwards told the Watford Observer.

"We are ready to do this if they continue, we have done our due diligence. If and when we need to recruit, we are ready and we will. Until then, I will get them selected. "
