We need to be brave enough to make decisions that will position the PDP for victory in 2023 — Ikpeazu

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has said that if the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is to win the 2023 presidential elections, the party must find enough courage to make decisions that stabilize the party. The Governor has therefore pledged to help the PDP Board of Directors resolve the issues facing the party with a view to ensuring that the party achieves victory in 2023.

Governor Ikpeazu gave the assurance by welcoming members of the Board of Directors (BOT) of the PDP led by its new Acting Chairman and former Speaker of the Senate, Senator Adolphus Wabara, who l visited his Umuobiakwa country home.

He said there must be true reconciliation and truth if the party is to rise above the current challenges it faces, and prayed that the party knows the variables that have changed and responds accordingly.

The governor stressed that the PDP must remain angry and power-hungry, adding that the party must correct the mistakes that cost it the election in 2015.

According to the governor, it is better for the party not to wash its dirty linings on the outside, saying that the PDP has the capacity to solve the problem internally. To this end, he urged the BOT to consider matters dispassionately and expressed hope that the new BOT Chairman, as a career diplomat, would rise to the occasion.

He assured that Abia State is a PDP state, so there was no reason for the PDP not to win all the elections in the state, informing that the campaign slogan in the state is 5 out of 5, which means ensuring victory for candidates for President, Governor, Senators, House of Representatives and House of Assembly. p>

The governor said that the BOT members have the ability to solve the problems of the PDP and assured that he will help them to actualize the peace in the party. He underscored the need for PDP members across the country to pursue the 2023 elections with greater vigor, saying members must be committed to achieving victory in the next general election.

He congratulated Senator Adolphus Wabara on his appointment as acting chairman of the party's BOT and said he could have been appointed to the position at this critical time due to his background and his ability to say the right words at the right time. He assured Senator Wabara that he would do everything in his power to ensure that he was successful in his new mission.

Earlier in his speech, Acting BOT Chairman Senator Wabara said he was in the state to officially inform the Governor that he had recently been named Acting Chairman of the PDP Board of Directors. He said he saw fit to come and start his mission from his home state.

He informed that the BOT wishes to look into the problems of the PDP, hence the decision to move to appeal to the governors and other stakeholders of the party with a view to ensuring the victory of the party next year elections, arguing that the PDP has a dispute resolution mechanism with which to manage its problems.
