We must make sacrifices for Nigeria to prosper — Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Wednesday asserted that sacrifices are needed on the part of Nigerians to move the nation forward towards prosperity.

He therefore called on citizens to unite and to flee all rivalries, especially ethnic and religious ones.

Speaking to reporters after observing the Eid-Al-Kabir prayers at the Dodan Barracks prayer ground, he said faith in God will lead the nation to peace, stability and prosperity.

A statement released by Dele Alake, Special Advisor to the President, Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, noted that Tinubu assured that Allah will not burden the country with what it cannot bear.

The statement informed that the Eid prayer, which started at 9 a.m., was led by the Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Sulaiman Oluwatoyin Abu-Nolah.

The Chief Imam then performed the obligatory slaughter of the ram at the Eid prayer ground to celebrate the significance of Prophet Ibrahim's noble deed in full obedience to Allah's command.

Speaking on behalf of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and the state for the joy of celebrating Eid- el-Kabir, urging them to unite behind President Tinubu in his determination to make the country a better place.

"It is our duty to pray for our leaders. We must pray for our President that God will help him to succeed in the task ahead."

The prayer was attended by the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Advisor, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Former Governor of Lagos State and Former Minister of Public Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, among other notable government officials and high profile politicians.
