What a scoop! Readers' favorite ice cream parlors

Winning tip: Ewe turn, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire

Shepherds Ice Cream Shop in Abergavenny is a Wes Anderson-style drop-in, with classic Neapolitan ice cream colors and a little hatch to pick up your favorite flavors of. The twist? Everything is made locally from sheep's milk, the business is run by two generations of a family that has a sort of tradition around a golden spoon. Shepherds often appear with a vintage ice cream caravan at festivals and events across the UK. It's my family's Friday treat all year round. I recently stumbled upon Tagg Lane Dairy after a lovely walk in the Derbyshire Peak District. A few miles from Bakewell in the beautiful village of Monyash, Tagg makes their own ice cream from their organic Jersey herd, the flavors change frequently and are all delicious, I found on returning. Recent highlights include rhubarb, passion fruit yoghurt and pistachio. Be warned, one scoop isn't enough and sometimes two aren't either.
