Wike trying to discredit me, I'm not ready for war - shouts Abe

Senator Magnus Abe, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) gubernatorial candidate in Rivers State, has insisted that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike is trying to discredit him as well as his aspirations.

Abe, who said he was not prepared to go to war with Wike, also claimed that the governor failed to provide security for Rivers in the recent gubernatorial and state elections House of Assembly.

He spoke while answering questions on Arise Television's morning show on Thursday.

According to him, "If you could recall, the Social Democratic Party did not exist in Rivers State, practically a few months ago until we entered the party.

"Now when you talk about being serious, yeah, I wasn't prepared for war, so if he [Wike] says I wasn't prepared, I wasn't prepared for war. war. But in a serious election, people are allowed to go out and vote, so we didn't prepare for war, we prepared for elections. It's the government's responsibility to have provided an environment in which the people of Rivers can vote for and now that hasn't happened.

"Now what the governor is trying to do for some reason and I want Nigerians to look at it, throughout the election, he did not attack Senator Abe. Now that the election is over, everything Suddenly Senator Abe is his primary target, trying to discredit me and my aspirations.

“Now let me say this, he is a man from Ikwerre. The thing he is fighting for nationally is that a Fulani man should not succeed another Fulani man, but in Rivers State, he is an Ikwerre man. He had his own ambition to succeed his brother Governor Rotimi Amaechi, also from Ikwerre. He came out and pursued that ambition wholeheartedly.

"People died for him to achieve this. He didn't say his ambition wasn't serious, but I'm an Ogoni man. In all the history of Rivers State, no Ogoni man has never had the opportunity to contest in a major political party and I decided to contest.

"I have no apologies to make to anyone. I am eminently qualified. The people of Rivers knew who won the election. They also knew who did not win the election. So, Whatever the governor wants to say, he is free to say it. But I want to say here to the whole world that my name is Senator Magnus Abe.

"So someone who didn't campaign, who didn't win the election, was declared the winner with almost three hundred thousand votes. So I didn't have to go there He is free to say what he wants He is a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but he must also understand that we too are citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and we have our rights, and that I am not someone he can just walk out and be quiet in public he should say what he means but i have the right to argue and i am very proud of the fact that i stood out for my right and that the peoples of Rivers stood with me.

"If he wanted to know what the people of Rivers think of him, his administration and me and my right to challenge, the right thing to do was to allow an election. He doesn't have one allowed. So, having scuttled the election, he has no right to go out and crush anyone. He can't do that."
