A woman conspires with her lover to bury her newborn alive in a toilet in Jigawa
Jigawa State Police Command on Friday arrested a 30-year-old woman, Balaraba Shehu, for allegedly burying her baby alive in the toilet.
Confirming Saturday's tragic incident, in a statement issued by the command's spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said the incident took place in Tsurma village in the government area Kiyawa local of Jigawa State.
"Upon receipt of the report, detectives exhumed the newborn from the toilet and arrested the suspicious mother.
"The baby was rushed to Dutse General Hospital and certified dead by the doctor.
“Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man, Amadu Sale, alias Dan Kwairo, from Akar village in Kiyawa LGA, who was allegedly responsible for the unwanted pregnancy and allegedly conspired with the suspect to bury the baby after delivery,” the statement read.
State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Effiom Ekot, reportedly ordered the case be transferred to SCID Dutse for a quiet investigation.
