Nicola Sturgeon says Liz Truss asked her 'how to get into Vogue'

Nicola Sturgeon claimed that Liz Truss asked her about landing an interview in Vogue magazine when they met briefly at Cop26 last year.

< p class="dcr-xry7m2">Speaking at a side event in Edinburgh on Wednesday, the Scottish Prime Minister recalled meeting the Tory leaders' favorite at the world climate conference in Glasgow shortly after the interview appeared in the magazine — her second with the fashion bible.

"I remember it quite well actually," Sturgeon told the audience. "I had just done it, and it's really going to look like me but I don't want to… I had just been interviewed by Vogue, like you do… that was the main thing she wanted to talk to me about, she wanted to know how she could get into Vogue.

"I told him, they came to ask me."

Sturgeon was responding to comments made by Truss at an election campaign event for the Conservative leadership in Exeter at which Truss called Sturgeon an 'attention seeker' and told the public that 'the best thing to do with Nicola Sturgeon is to ignore".

Avoiding a second independence referendum, Truss told the audience, "She's an attention seeker, that's what she is. . What we need to do is show the people of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales what we bring to them and make sure that all of our government policies apply across the UK. »

Speaking to political commentator Iain Dale at the Edinburgh fringe event, Sturgeon said that when she told the Foreign Secretary she was in Having appeared in Vogue twice (once in 2015 and again in 2021), Truss "looked a bit like she swallowed a wasp".

"I remember because we were there at the world's biggest climate change conference in Glasgow, world leaders about to arrive. That was the main topic of conversation she wanted to pursue. And once that we've exhausted that, it kind of dried up."

"I'm sure we'll have a lot more conversations about a lot more substantive stuff," said -t -she adds. "I'm sure she'll be in Vogue before too long."
