Nottm Forest secure 24th signing of 22/23 season as 'fantastic' former Arsenal target Danilo joins for £17.8m

Nottm Forest have announced they have signed popular former Arsenal target Danilo of Brazilian side Palmeiras on a permanent deal.

Danilo has signed a six-and-a-half-year contract and this is Forest's 24th signing since promotion to the Premier League last year. The fee is widely reported at £17.8m.

The 21-year-old is the second player to join Steve Cooper's side from Palmeiras this month after Gustavo Scarpa.

Forest reportedly beat competition from a number of clubs to sign Danilo. He has previously been linked with Arsenal.

He relishes the opportunity to play in England after talking to Scarpa about the transfer.

"I'm really happy to fulfill my dream of playing in the Premier League and playing for Nottingham Forest," Danilo said.

"I learned a bit about the history of the club and saw that they had won two European Cups. I also spoke to Gustavo Scarpa, and he told me that Nottingham is a great city and that Forest has a quality team with very good staff.

"I will show a lot of determination and a strong desire to win and I will always seek to do my best on the pitch to achieve positive results.

"I'm excited to start and meet my new teammates."

Danilo joins a Forest side on a three-game unbeaten run in the league which saw the club climb out of the relegation zone and into 13th place in the table.

Forest sporting director Filippo Giraldi said: "We are really happy to welcome Danilo to our club and to our city.

"He is a fantastic talent who will be a huge asset to Nottingham Forest now and in the future."
