When asked later if he regretted the incident, Djokovic replied: "It was a frustration at the time.
"I replied to your colleague two minutes ago about this. There is not much to say about it."
Djokovic missed the chance to win a 24th Grand Slam singles title. There remains one behind Margaret Court as the most successful male or female player in the Open Era.
