Nuno Tavares shows Arsenal what they are missing with another performance from the Marseille star

Nuno Tavares continues to show Arsenal what they are missing after scoring his second goal in two games for Marseille. The Gunners loanee followed up his goal against the State of Reims last weekend with another in the Ligue 1 side's 1-1 draw against Brest on Sunday.

After an unconvincing first season in the Premier League, Tavares was loaned out this summer by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to gain new experience at the highest level. The Spaniard has made no secret of his desire to strengthen in the left-back area and moved to sign versatile Oleksandr Zinchenko before sanctioning Tavares' loan move to Marseille.

However, the Portuguese full-back soon set out to prove that he might just be good enough to make the Arsenal first team. The 22-year-old Benfica product made a brilliant start to his loan spell with the French side last weekend, scoring the second in his new side's 4-1 win over Stade de Reims in the opening of the Ligue 1 season in Marseille.

If that wasn't enough to grab Arteta's attention, the full-back followed up his debut with a second goal in as many appearances for his new side. Tavares opened the scoring for Brest on Sunday night, volleying in at the far post after entering the box after a well-worked Marseille corner routine.

The Portugal Under-21 international then walked away with outstretched arms before finding himself mobbed by his delighted team-mates. The strike was reminiscent of his only goal at Arsenal, in which he came late to score against Manchester United at the far post.

After Tavares' move to Marseille, Arteta said he was confident the move would prove productive for both the player and his parent club. He said: "It was announced that it was official and for the development of Nuno, I think it is going to be very important.
