A nurse has slammed the Prime Minister for having 'his head in the clouds' after a rather disappointing visit to his hospital during which he made even more promises to the NHS.

Rishi Sunak visited University Hospital in Milton Keynes to unveil plans for 900 additional NHS beds. But Lilian Soribe, a practice educator at the hospital, was unimpressed. She said the plan does not solve the problems she and other nurses at the hospital - and across the country - face.

Speaking after Mr Sunak returned from a trip to California to visit site services, Lilian, 38, said: "I think his head is still in the clouds after his vacation. If there are 900 beds and we get one or two, we still need at least 99 more beds - and that doesn't really solve the capacity issues we have.

“Staffing is the biggest problem we are facing right now. The gap we are trying to fill keeps growing. How do we recruit new nurses and train them without a budget?”

Lilian, who was trained in Nigeria and has worked at the hospital since 2016, feared the prime minister "didn't appreciate the courage that goes into this profession". She added: "We know we're not getting the response we need from him, we expect more and we see so little. You end up feeling like you're not able to provide care. quality to patients. You may feel depressed as a staff member, unmotivated because you are not able to do the job you are supposed to, and undervalued."

Brazen Sunak made the promises after 12,000 NHS beds were cut since the Tories returned to power. Returning from his holiday at Disneyland in California, the Prime Minister traveled to the University Hospital in Milton Keynes, Bucks, to claim the £250million...
