Oscar Hernandez hopes for 'solution' to brother Xavi's US visa issues

Interim Barcelona boss Oscar Hernandez has conceded it will be the 'first and last time' he will play a game from the sidelines, following his side's 6-0 win over Inter Miami Tuesday.

There were six different goalscorers for Barca as they played in the opener of their United States tour, with Gavi, Memphis Depay and Ousmane Dembele adding to Pierre-Emerick's first-half goals Aubameyang, Raphinha and Ansu Fati.

While Xavi has been denied entry to the United States after recent visits to Iran over the past five years with Qatari club Al-Sadd as a player and coach, his assistant has been responsible for taking over on match day.

The 45-year-old, who was also an assistant at Al-Sadd, said after the game he hoped his brother's problems could be resolved soon, with Barcelona still set to face Real Madrid, Juventus and the United. New York Red Bulls.

Nevertheless, he was happy with Barca's performance.

"Hopefully this will be my first and my last game," Hernandez said. "The situation is not easy for Xavi, but hopefully a solution will be found and tomorrow he can be with us.

"We are very happy, because despite being friendly, things have come together. Those at the front are very active and are deploying mechanisms that we have been working on. We have to create competitiveness and c this is how we will grow."

After confirming his transfer from Bayern Munich on Saturday, Robert Lewandowski hasn't made an appearance, but older brother Hernandez believes he will be an influential addition in the future.

"With his arrival, we are taking a huge leap in quality, because he is one of the best players in the world," he said.

"The club made great efforts, but we needed a top player. Moreover, he is a footballer with a lot of commitment.

"For Xavi and the coaching staff, it is a blessing to have so many strikers, because competitiveness will make the team grow.

Hernandez also gave special mention to Ansu Fati, who missed much of last season due to hamstring injuries.

As well as going 3-0, the 19-year-old was impressive on Tuesday, bringing Barcelona the dynamism they sorely lacked last campaign.

"It's like a new signing and signing at a very high level," the assistant said. "He is growing a lot, physically he is getting better and better and we are very happy because he is a benchmark."
