Parker condemns 'unacceptable' Bournemouth spectacle as Arsenal crack down

Bournemouth boss Scott Parker said his side's performance was "unacceptable" after losing 3-0 to Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Cherries, back in the top flight after being promoted from the Championship last season, were dominated in their own backyard by a coasting display from Mikel Arteta's side.

The hosts were so behind their opponents that they failed to register a single shot or touchdown in the opposition's penalty area in the first half, this is only the second time that a home team has been shutting out in this way since 2008-09 in the Premier League.

This first such occasion saw Bournemouth as the lackluster team involved as well, pre-Parker's time, against Manchester City in 2019.

Former Fulham boss Parker was scathing in his criticism after the full-time whistle.

"The first half was unacceptable for us in many ways," he told Sky Sports. "We had to be humble to understand the dynamics of the game and what we were up against.

"I thought in terms of body language and dynamics we weren't far off. Without that, when you're a team like us, there's no shame in losing against Arsenal, but what is not acceptable is the way we did it in the first half.

"I didn't expect to see what I saw in the first half. I expected them to show a certain ingredient that we didn't show and it was way too much easy in terms of recovery runs, fitness and the quality we were playing against.

"There's a lot to learn about this game, which is good, but we have to learn from it."
