The Met Police have admitted they failed to send questionnaires to Boris Johnson regarding two Downing Street anti-lockdown rallies for which other participants were fined.

The prime minister was not faced with questions from the force about his involvement in the events, although Sue Gray found out he attended both.

The Mirror revealed earlier this year that Mr Johnson would only be investigated for attending two social events in Downing Street when they were banned - even though he was supposed to have them attended six.

The Prime Minister has been told by Scotland Yard that he will face a limited investigation as part of the four-month investigation, we reported.

Mr. Johnson received a notice of fixed fine for a birthday party in the Cabinet Room in June 2020, but has not been subject to any further action regarding other gatherings covered by the Met's Operation Hillman investigation. .

The Good Law Project has criticized the Met for continuing "to provide no explanation for how it cleared the Prime Minister".

The force issued 126 FPNs to 83 people at events in Downing Street and Whitehall, including others attending rallies on November 13, 2020 and December 17, 2020.

"We do not believe the Met's response is consistent with its legal duty of candor. And we certainly do not believe it is consistent with what the Met has elsewhere acknowledged to be its public duty to maintain the trust public...
