Keir Starmer would make a better prime minister than either of the Tory leadership candidates, according to the public.

A poll released today finds the Labor Party leader ahead of Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak among voters.

On Monday, the Tories will finally announce who will be the next prime minister after weeks of bitter infighting.

Ashamed, Boris Johnson will leave office this week, but has repeatedly refused to dismiss reports that he plans a return if things go wrong for his successor.

Ms Truss is the bookmakers' favorite to be next in number 10 after Conservative Party members - who make up around 0.3% of the population - choose their leader.

The new incumbent will have less than 1,000 days to make an impression before the next general election, and the current numbers don't please conservatives.

A poll by Redfield & Wilton Strategies, found that 39% backed Mr. Starmer over Ms. Truss, who was at 35%, while the rest were undecided.

Mr. Sunak is furthest behind, with 38% of voters in favor of the Labor leader when the two clashed, with only 30% backing the former chancellor.

There's play here, though, with hundreds of voters saying they didn't know.
