Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti appears to confirm Casemiro transfer to Man Utd

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Casemiro asked to leave the club after agreeing personal terms with Manchester United. The Brazilian midfielder appears to have played his last game for Real ahead of a potential £60million move to the Premier League.

Casemiro is said to have agreed a four-year deal at United, with the option of a further year, with the Red Devils agreeing an initial £51m deal that could rise to £60m via add-ons. And now Ancelotti has admitted that the 30-year-old wants to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ahead of Real's La Liga clash against Celta Vigo on Saturday, the Italian coach said: "We spoke this morning. He wants to try a new challenge, a new opportunity. I understand that; the club too. because of what he has done for this club and for this team, we have to be respectful of that. There are negotiations between the clubs. He is still a Real Madrid player, but now it seems that he is ready from."

When asked if he had tried to convince Casemiro to snub a move to Old Trafford, Ancelotti replied: "No, I always talked a lot with him during my second spell at Real Madrid. 've just listened to his desire. I think there is no turning back. This is what he wants, and if the negotiations go well, we just have to wish him the best ."

Casemiro made 336 appearances in nine years for Real Madrid, winning five Champions Leagues, three FIFA Club World Cups and three La Ligas, among other accolades. Throughout his illustrious time in the Spanish capital, he helped form one of the most dominant midfield trios in footballing history alongside Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

But Los Blancos have shifted their focus slightly towards the new generation in recent years, signing Eduardo Camavinga last year before signing a big deal for Aurelien Tchouameni earlier this summer. Casemiro thinks it's the right time for a new challenge after starting La Liga's opener last weekend on the bench.
