Report: Black Adam 2, Hawkman Spin-off In The Works

UPDATE: A new report says Wonder Woman 3 has been canceled and a Black Adam sequel is now "unlikely" as DCU plans change under Safran and Gunn.

Recently released Black Adam may not have been a huge box office hit, but a recent report from Deadline suggests the movie won't be a flop and will even spawn more movies.

In the report, Deadline spoke with Joe Singer, a film producer and financier, who said any claim that Black Adam will lose money is "false" and "can be considered as disappointing since it had Dwayne Johnson in a DC movie. However, the picture will break even and turn in some profit."

Singer also talks about the future of Black Adam and how setting up sequels will help keep the franchise sustainable in the long run, while helping it continue to make money. To that end, Deadline noted in a since-deleted section of the report that a direct Black Adam sequel is in development, as is a spinoff film focused on Aldis Hodge's Hawkman.

"All of this, including a B+ CinemaScore, is good enough for Black Adam to be a franchise starter (read the first Captain America made $370M WW), along with Black Adam 2 and a Hawkeye spin-off [sic] already being mapped by Johnson's Seven Bucks. Note that the franchise will further materialize once newly installed DC heads Peter Safran and James Gunn unveil their plans early next year," reads -on in the report section, which has since been removed without any editor's note explaining why.

Black Adam features the introduction of Dwayne Johnson as Teth-Adam or the titular anti-hero, whose backstory was first teased during Shazam! This marks the character's live-action debut after only appearing in animated shows and movies such as Young Justice.

Join Johnson with Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman. Other actors include Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer and Uli Latukefu.
