Australian company AirlineRatings.com publishes its list of the world's safest airlines each year. The site evaluates the flight records of 385 carriers, as well as aviation governing body account audits, accident and serious incident records, safety initiatives, pilot training, age of the fleet and much more.
Last year's number one airline, Qantas, slipped to second place, overtaken by Air New Zealand in 2024 by what the site calls it “an incredibly close airline.” ' margin.
