Revealed: A stunning Edinburgh keyhole with a secret door has been voted the UK's most romantic hotel, with a property in Somerset ranked among the best in England.

The Witchery in Edinburgh was voted the UK's Most Romantic, while The Newt in Somerset is runner-up and England's Most Romantic.

First comes 19th on the top 50 most romantic. hotels of the world for the 2024 list, the latter ranking 26th.

The distinctions were awarded by Big 7 Travel, which took into account suggestions from readers of previous lists. and Tripadvisor review scores, as well as "unique romantic experiences, room amenities, and luxury."

Big 7 Travel notes that The Witchery is located “directly on the Royal Mile, a few minutes from the castle gates”, adding: “Inside, everything is paneled, velvety furniture and lots of soft candles. It is the perfect refuge for the most romantic of spirits. The library [...
