RHF Trophy: Tazmin Brits shine for Stars as Blaze suffer first loss

Tazmin Brits

British South African fly-half hit 85 from 63 as Stars chased 160 to win by two wickets from 161 -8.

The home side fell to 19-3 and 62-6 and was eventually knocked out for 159 despite 56 from Teresa Graves.

The stars also lost early wickets but the Brits followed 112 steps against the Sunrisers with another game-winner.

The game was reduced at 48 overs per side due to a rain interruption during the Blaze innings.

Having won the tossed and chosen to bat, they lost Marie Kelly, Georgie Boyce and Kathryn Bryce - the bottom two for the Ducks - inside the first seven overs of their innings, two dismissed by Freya Davies.

Graves followed shortly after, a second victim for Alice Davidson-Richards, and Davies completed the numbers 3-28 beating Lucy Higham before the end of the innings.

Stars got off to a bad start in response as Stonehouse was exhausted by Michaela Kirk's direct hit at the end of the bowler in the sixth over and they quickly found themselves 30-3.

Davidson-Richards helped stabilize innings with 20 in a stand of 55 with the Brits and Paige Scholfield contributed 17 as the Brits continued to go for her shots.

She hit three sixes and 10 fours and when she was caught by Grace Ballinger (3-25), it only took six more points to claim the win.< /p>

The Stars also lost Ryana MacDonald-Gay before Davies hit Kirstie Gordon for her fifth victory of the competition with 13.3 overs to spare.
