Rhod Gilbert: Comedian Optimistic About Curing Cancer

Comedian Rhod Gilbert said he was feeling positive and recovering from cancer day by day.

In July the 53-year-old from Carmarthen revealed he was receiving treatment at Velindre Cancer Hospital Center in Cardiff.

Feeling "terribly bad" and throat problems forced him to turn his Book of John stand-up show into a DVD tour.

"Hopefully 2023 will be a better year and I can start having fun again," he said.

Speaking to Eleri Sion on BBC Radio Wales, Gilbert revealed how he recorded his show at the Millennium Center in Cardiff in early April, but "straight away afterwards I had a hard time".

"I had a terrible sore throat, tightness in my neck. I had to cancel shows because I couldn't breathe," he said.< /p>

"I had all kinds of problems and we couldn't get to the bottom of things."
