Richard Osman has revealed he plans to take a break from writing his bestselling Thursday Murder Club novels to embark on a new detective series.

The TV star, who recently announced his departure from Useless, has enjoyed huge success with his debut novel.

Osman told BBC News that his new book series will be "a kind of Thursday Murder Club meets Da Vinci Code".

The author has stated that he will publish the first of the new series after the fourth Thursday Murder Club novel.

The first book of the murder club series, which is about four elderly amateur detectives who live in a retirement village, was released in 2020.

The story beat some sales records and topped the UK bestseller list.

It was also a hit in other countries where he went out, spawned a successful sequel, and Steven Spielberg captured the movie well.

A third murder club mystery, The Bullet that Missed, which Osman says concerns "the sad and sudden death of a news anchor", will be published in September.

Osman, 51, is already writing the fourth book, but after that he says he is "starting a new series", inspired from a recent visit to a bookstore.

"I thought I'd like a Da Vinci Code that was funny and smart enough," he said. he explained, referencing the best of Dan Brown - selling a puzzle-filled thriller.
