Rishi Sunak confronted by angry resident plagued by AirBnb parties with 'hot tubs and karaoke'

Rishi Sunak faced angry resident over use of AirBnbs for parties, and faced requests for additional rules for vacation rentals in short term.

It comes after the Prime Minister announced a new £160m crackdown on anti-social behaviour. Under the new rules, alcohol consumption at bus stops and war memorials will be banned, and four-figure fines for graffiti and fly dumps, as well as a ban on nitrous oxide.

Plans also include a proposed municipal registry of short-term vacation rentals, so that "if a rental proves problematic, they can take action against guests and landlords".

Mr. Sunak fielded questions from locals at a community center during a visit to Chelmsford, and was confronted by Jeff Jones - who told the Prime Minister he was having trouble after his former local pub was turned into a a large Airbnb rental.

He said: "These places are rented out by the owners to groups of people with no ol control whatsoever.

"They can come in and they can use the facilities there - in this particular case, they have 10 person hot tubs and karaoke rooms.

"Antisocial behavior and especially n The sound sources can last all night and there are no restrictions, and I think they should really address the issue that this is causing with maybe some regulations coming up.

"I don't walk the alleys and alleys of Chelmsford watch this, but it goes on."

Mr. Sunak replied, "Let me remove that. I feel like we're looking at that, from memory."

Home Secretary Suella Braverman visited the town of Essex alongside Mr Sunak and the couple were heckled and told to 'go away' on a short walk through the city centre.
