Rishi Sunak has mocked his predecessor Liz Truss after she was questioned about her deep state conspiracies.

Ms Truss, Britain's longest-serving prime minister, has already accused the "deep state" of "sabotageing" her tax cut plans from the notoriously disastrous 2022 mini-budget by Kwasi Kwarteng.

In a recent article for Fox News TV, she said: "In too much of the free world, the left has been in charge for too long and the results are not "Their agents are only too active in public and private institutions and in what we call the administrative state and the deep state."

Mr Sunak was asked about Comments from MPs on the Commons Liaison Committee on Wednesday.

Conservative MP William Wragg asked the Prime Minister: "What do you think or what comments do you have of your predecessor when she says that 'she was undermined by, quote, 'the deep state'."

Mr Sunak laughed as he replied: "I think that's probably a question for her rather than me. "

Mr. Wragg pressed him again on the question: “Is there a deep state? Are you one of them? Am I one of them?"

The laughter continued as the Conservative leader replied: "That's probably a question for her... I probably wouldn't tell you if I was, right? And we wouldn't tell anyone else about it either, would we?

Ms Truss has previously been criticized for her claims that she had seen for herself then that unnamed individuals and organizations “had sabotaged my efforts in Britain to cut taxes, reduce the size of government and restore democratic accountability.”

She had a hard time explaining what she meant...
