Roma great Daniele De Rossi quits Italy job for SPAL leader

Daniele De Rossi will take his first steps as head coach of Serie B club SPAL after the former Italy and Roma midfielder was named Roberto Venturato's successor.

De Rossi, 39, has agreed to join the team from Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, with a contract running until the end of June 2024.

De Rossi most recently served as Italy boss Roberto Mancini's technical assistant, but left that position to venture into Italy's second division on his own.

SPAL are 14th in Serie A and have lost their last two league matches, leading to Venturato being sacked on Sunday.
