Huge explosion in the Romanian town of Crevedia

At least one person has been killed and dozens more injured in a massive explosion at a petrol station in Romania.

A second explosion at the station injured at least 26 firefighters, according to the emergency services on site. Workers had attempted to put out the massive blaze before it exploded and quickly spread to two other acknowledgments and a nearby house.

The disaster happened at a petrol station supplying liquefied petroleum gas, a fuel used in household appliances and as an alternative to petrol and diesel in some vehicles. Romanian Health Minister Alexandru Rafila confirmed that one person had died and that several burn victims had been transported to hospitals in Bucharest for treatment.

A shock video online shows the moment the first tank exploded after being set on fire. Several people were seen fleeing the area as a large crowd rose towards the sky.

A concerned local added: "My friend in Crevedia, Romania just informed me of a massive explosion near him, he is fine but I hope everyone is too. Very sad news coming from Romania tonight."
