Vladimir Putin is about to add anti-satellite lasers to his arsenal of weapons.

The Kremlin has been developing technology for decades that can blind orbiting platforms that collect general intelligence.

As of 2019, Putin's generals can call on the mobile unit Peresvet to cover up his secret plans on the planet below.

He is now ready to add a new laser system known as Kalina to his weapon options.

A report says: "There is strong evidence that a space surveillance complex in Russia's North Caucasus is equipped with a new laser system called Kalina that will target the optical systems of foreign imaging satellites flying over Russian territory.< /p>

"Launched in 2011, the project has suffered numerous delays, but recent images from Google Earth show that construction is now well underway.

"Its existence can only be inferred from a number of online procurement and court documents, which in turn find several technical publications that are most likely related to the project."

Imagery from Google Maps showed that construction work was underway in 2019 and in 2020 work was well advanced.

Once ready, Kalina will aim to cross paths with spy satellites hundreds of miles away.
