Doncaster Sheffield Airport has been voted the UK's best airport for the fourth year consecutive thanks to its 'helpful staff, "flawless" service and queue management through security and baggage claim.

The distinction precedes the airport closure - its last flight is scheduled to depart in the coming weeks. In second place, meanwhile, is a tie between Exeter and Liverpool John Lennon Airports, while Manchester Airport's Terminal 3 comes bottom of the pile.

The ranking was produced by a new survey by Which? Travel which asked nearly 7,500 travelers to rate their experiences at 29 UK airports and terminals over the past two years, and found that in general smaller operations outperform larger rivals.

Respondents ranked airports into ten categories, including wait times at check-in and baggage claim, quality of facilities, helpfulness of staff and the price of the products on offer.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport's top spot scores an 85% customer score, with travelers giving five stars to airport employees. Airport seats and toilets were also praised, with one respondent enthused that their experience was "how air travel should be".
