The Kremlin has fired a parting shot at British Prime Minister Boris Johnson saying they don't like him because he is stepping down today.

Speaking on a call with reporters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "He doesn't like us, we don't like him either".

Peskov said reports that Johnson would soon resign as prime minister were of little concern to the Kremlin.

Johnson is set to step down with Number 10 staff writing his resignation letter as he prepares to address the nation today.

The disgraced leader will remain in Downing Street until a successor is in place, which is expected to be by the time of the Conservative Party conference in October.

The Prime Minister was hit by a wave of resignations this morning; the new education secretary resigned and was told by his chancellor to do the right thing.

More than 50 Conservatives have left the government, ranging from Cabinet Ministers, aides, moderates and Red Wallers.
