Sam Raimi is gearing up to direct a Magic remake, according to producer Roy Lee

Bloody Disgusting was the first to relay Lee's brief comments, and while we should always proceed with caution when the writers have not yet been reached, it appears this image is an essay .

Lee told Garris that although he has worked with Raimi as a producer before (notably with the American adaptations of "The Grudge"), he is thrilled to be able to team up with the legendary filmmaker on something he's going to direct. Lee told Garris, "We're actually hearing the final versions of the various takes from the writers next week." So there is no script yet. But if it ramps up (and why don't you ramp up production if Raimi is on board?), it should probably be launched and assembled by spring 2023.

For those of you unfamiliar with "Magic", the 1978 film is based on a novel by William Goldman and stars Anthony Hopkins as Charles "Corky" Withers, a struggling magician who becomes a hit when he incorporates a dummy named Fats into his act. The profane supermodel quickly takes on a life of her own and becomes murderously jealous when Corky rekindles a flame with her high school crush Peggy-Ann (Ann-Margaret). It's a good scary horror movie, but there's a lot of room for improvement. If you don't see the insane potential of Raimi working with a psychopathic puppet, then you clearly don't know this man's job.

We'll be keeping a close eye on this project, but in the meantime feel free to indulge in casting speculation. As far as I'm concerned, it would be the perfect time for Raimi to reunite with his "Darkman" star, Liam Neeson.
