Sarm Heslop's best friend has revealed that the missing Briton's family want British police to launch their own investigation into her disappearance.

As they face their second Christmas without her, Kate Owen says those close to Sarm - including heartbroken mother Brenda - are growing frustrated with the lack of progress by cops in the US Virgin Islands .

And they have issued a new appeal to investigators here, desperately hoping that a team of British officers will finally find out what happened to him.

Kate told The Sunday People: 'What we really want more than anything right now is for the UK police to get involved.

"There was no investigation on this side, and the one opposite gave us no response.

"We don't know more clearly what happened that night than at the beginning. We need them to get involved."
