Scaloni ready to make changes to Argentina squad ahead of World Cup

Lionel Scaloni will consider making changes to the Argentina squad before the start of their World Cup campaign if the players fail to prove their fitness.

Argentina head coach Scaloni named his 26-man squad traveling to Qatar 2022 on Sunday ahead of his side's Group C opener against Saudi Arabia on November 22.

Paulo Dybala was selected after recently returning from injury for the Roma club, although he played no part in Wednesday's 5-0 win over the United Arab Emirates.

Teams can make injury roster changes from a previously submitted list of 55 players up until the day before their opening match, something Scaloni is open to.

"We have a few small issues and still have a few days to decide on the roster," he told TyC Sports. "We can make changes, hopefully, but it is possible.

"There are several players who were sent off today because they were unfit to play or there was a risk of injury.

"I can't guarantee these players are okay. In principle they are, but you have to be careful. That's why we've been careful with the minutes."
