Another Australian, batter Travis Head, wins the Wisden Trophy for Test performance of the year after his 163 from 174 balls in the Test Championship final victory against India at The Oval in June.

The awards come as this year's Wisden Cricketers Almanack is released this week.

Sciver-Brunt, 31 , was the "dominant batsman in women's cricket", according to Wisden editor Lawrence Booth. She scored three centuries in five one-day internationals, including two in three days during the Ashes and another off just 66 balls against Sri Lanka.

"It's quite special," Sciver-Brunt told BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour.

"I felt a little emotional about some things, I'm not really sure why I was sort of taking stock of what I did, and when. you're there, you don't really realize the impact you could have or the role model you could become or the things you could do. 0.0.0.1.$paragraph-10">As well as winning two world titles for his country, fast bowler Cummins, 30, led Australia to retain the Ashes in England, thanks in part to his late batting during a thrilling run chase in the first Test at Edgbaston.

The five cricketers of the year are chosen by publisher Wisden, a tradition which dates back to 1889. Performance during the English summer is a major factor and no player can win the award more than once.

Batter Brook, 25, made four half-centuries during the Ashes, while the inclusion of pace bowler Wood, 34 years, in the English team from the third test helped the hosts come back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2.

Opener Khawaja's 496 runs were the highest Starc, the either-side and left-arm bowler, took more wickets - 24 - than any other bowler in the series.

All-rounder Gardner was player of the tournament at the Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa, then won 12 wickets in the match as Australia won the only Test of the Women's Ashes.

The all-rounder West Indies Hayley Matthews becomes the first woman to be named the world's best T20 cricketer after being named player of the match in eight consecutive matches, breaking the previous record of four.
