Worried security officials have insisted a 'smoking room' has been built on the roof of Michael Gove's government department after he received chilling death threats.

The Secretary of State for Levels, Housing and Communities is now taking smoke breaks in the secure area after he suffered horrific abuse on the street.

A source said the Cabinet member was told it was not safe for him to smoke outside after he was targeted by anti-vaxxers threatening to 'hang' him.< /p>

This meant that a hut had to be erected on top of the Whitehall building as there was no other suitable area.

Mr. Gove, 55, was advised to take the protective measure by police and security officers.

This follows a series of incidents that have raised concerns about his safety.

A Whitehall source said: 'A secure area has been set up on the wise advice of police and security officials after Gove was harassed by anti-vax protesters outside the department threatening to hang him and following the discovery that David Amess' killer - terrorist Ali Harbi Ali - had visited Gove's house on several occasions armed with a knife."

In October 2021, footage emerged showing Mr Gove being swarmed by anti-vaxxers, with one managing to shove a camera in his face before being swept away.

The angry crowd shouted 'Arrest Michael Gove' during the terrifying encounter as the minister ventured down the street for a coffee.
