Sofia Coppola is preparing a biopic on Priscilla Presley with Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi as Elvis

Stay away from Austin Butler, there's a new Elvis in the building.

Fresh off Butler's role as the King of Rock 'n Roll for Baz Luhrmann's mind-bending biopic "Elvis," Jacob Elordi will play the "Jailhouse Rock" crooner for the A24 drama "Priscilla."

Based on Priscilla Presley's 1985 memoir "Elvis and Me," the film will be directed by Sofia Coppola and "Mare of Easttown" star Cailee Spaeny as Elvis' ex-wife. Coppola also adapted Priscilla's bestselling New York Times memoir for the big screen.

According to a source at Deadline, Spaeny was Coppola's first choice to play Priscilla, while 'Euphoria' star Elordi auditioned for the role of Elvis. The film marks Oscar winner Coppola's first feature film since "On the Rocks" starring Rashida Jones and her longtime collaborator Bill Murray. Coppola is also producing the film, with Fremantle Company, American Zoetrope and Sony's Stage 6 Films set to finance the film. Production begins in Toronto this fall.

Coppola is also currently developing a series based on "The Custom of the Country" by Edith Wharton. The casting has not yet been announced.

"Priscilla" is the latest musical biopic of works based on the life and death of Elvis. Actor Butler explained earlier this year that transforming into the iconic singer caused his body to shut down post-production. The Real Priscilla praised Butler's performance in Luhrmann's sprawling epic, which starred Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla and Tom Hanks as predatory manager Colonel Tom Parker.

"This story is about the relationship between Elvis and Colonel Parker," exclaimed Priscilla. "It's a true story told with brilliance and creativity that only Baz, in his unique artistic way, could have told. Austin Butler, who played Elvis is exceptional. Kudos to him...he knew he had big shoes to wear. fill in. He was extremely nervous playing that role. I can only imagine."

In addition to playing Elvis, Elordi stars in the drama "He Went That Way," Emerald Fennell's "Saltburn," and Tom Green's "Parallel."
