Souness tells Mings to 'bring it to his son' as bizarre feud with Villa star continues

Graeme Souness told Tyrone Mings to 'bring it on his son' after the Aston Villa star responded to his 'weird post'.

Souness backed Villa manager Steven Gerrard's decision to strip Mings of the captaincy, citing a Zoom call in which the centre-back had "a lot to say".

Souness wrote in his column for the Daily Mail on Friday: "I will not join the love of Tyrone Mings, the man Steven Gerrard stripped of the captaincy of Aston Villa in a movement that, summed up in one sentence, says, "I just don't like you."

‘Mings is “well liked in the locker room”, apparently.

"Well, when he popped up on Zoom a few times for shows we were doing on Sky Sports during lockdown, I thought, 'For a young man who hasn't achieved anything in the game, you have much to do say."

"He was talking about how footballers were considered 'commodities' at the time and I asked him if he didn't think players had an amazing chance of doing their job.

"He had an answer for me, of course, but this meeting taught me a lot."

Mings was understandably annoyed and made that clear in a social media response.

Mings tweeted, "What a weird article. This zoom call I was invited to was 2 years ago and he didn't tell me anything then, now he wants to drag me to his useless column.

“By the way, I've accomplished a lot since I started. Looking forward to chatting if you ever need me.

Souness, aided by chief agitator Jim White, continued the beef on talkSPORT, imploring Mings to respect his offer and call him.

Aware of Mings' tweet, Souness replied, "Anytime, anytime. I've coached I think 880 games.

"When you're a manager and you decide to take the captaincy from someone, it's as bad as it gets for that individual.

"You know you've lost it forever. There's nothing you can do.

"Forever, to get him back. So doing it is a major step. You have to have a good reason for doing it.

"There's something about Tyrone Mings' makeup that Steven Gerrard doesn't like. Forever.

"I'm on it, I'm a player, the captain of the football club and someone is taking the captaincy away from me.

"I'm done with the manager. Actually my personality, I couldn't stay at the club, I have to go now."

"I'll come back to that," Souness repeated. "Tyrone Mings, bring the son.

"If you want to have a conversation with me about football - I'm not sure what I'll learn - phone talkSPORT. We'll have the conversation."
