Spurs defender jokes he wouldn't hold back if he faces Kane at World Cup

Tottenham defender Cristian Romero has joked that he won't hold back against Harry Kane if the duo meet at the World Cup.

The Argentine defender is now preparing for his quarter-final against the Netherlands. Argentina have grown in the tournament after recovering well from their first defeat.

Romero has started in three of Argentina's World Cup matches so far and came on as a second-half substitute in the other game.

He played the full 90 minutes as Argentina managed to get the better of Australia in the Round of 16.

The only way England could meet Argentina now in the World Cup would be in the final itself and Romero has claimed he won't hold back against Spurs team-mate Kane.

"I would feel really sorry for him if I bumped into him. I used to hit him a lot," Romero joked on FootballersLives.tv.

"[Kane] and Dier, I told them, if I face you, I'm sorry for you, but if we have to hit each other, it's going to be like this.

"When he serves for England and I for Argentina. I have no teammates, no friends, nothing.

Romero is certainly ready to give his all for his country, but he believes England have a chance of winning the World Cup this month.

The winner of the draw between England and France will then advance to the semi-finals and face either Portugal or Morocco.
