Squid Game actor found guilty of sexual misconduct

Squid Game actor O Yeong-Su sentenced to eight months in prison for sexual misconduct by a court in South Korea.

The 79-year-old was charged in 2022 with assaulting sexually assaulted a woman on two occasions.

The assaults took place five years earlier while O was staying in a rural area for a theater performance in 2017, reported AFP according to the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Court.

< p class="ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10">O said he would appeal the verdict and had seven days to do so.

The allegations were that he hugged a woman and kissed her on the cheek against her will, the agency reported Yonhap press.

O was also ordered to take classes on sexual violence, it was reported.

According to AFP, judge Jeong Yeon-ju said the victim's records regarding the assault and her claims were "consistent... and appear to be statements that cannot be made without actually experiencing it."

O had denied the allegations which, according to the Suwon District Court, had taken place on a walking path and in front of from the victim's home.
