Stephen Curry Calls for Brittney Griner's Release at GSW Ring Ceremony

Stephen Curry took a moment to pay tribute to Brittney Griner during the Golden State Warriors championship ring ceremony on opening night -- wishing the casket a happy 32nd birthday and supporting efforts to take home.

"We want to continue to use our platform and the opportunity to shout out a very special member of the basketball community - Brittney Griner's birthday is today," Curry said before the Warriors hang their fourth banner in eight years.

"She is 32 years old. We want to keep her name known. And, we pray that...it has been 243 days since she was wrongfully incarcerated in Russia. home and everyone is doing their part to bring her home."

Griner, who has been detained in Russia since February, briefly thanked her supporters on what should have been a special day...saying in a statement, "Thank you all for fighting so hard for me. take home."

"All the support and love really helps me."

As for the Warriors, their rings are incredible: they feature 16 carats of yellow and white diamonds set in yellow gold to represent their 16 playoff wins.

This is the first championship ring made primarily of yellow diamonds, in honor of the team's "golden age"

They also have a special secret compartment... which reveals how many trophies each player has individually earned during their career.

There are seven carats of cushion-cut yellow diamonds on the bezel to mark the team's championship total in franchise history...and 43 baguettes in the top logo bridge for performance of Curry in 43 points in the final.
