Strange World Disney+ release date set for streaming debut

Less than a month after the theatrical release of Strange World, Walt Disney Animation Studios has announced the Disney+ release date for the streaming debut of its latest fantasy adventure film. The Jake Gyllenhaal-directed film will be available to stream on December 23.

So far, Strange World has only earned a worldwide gross of over $53 million. Despite its poor box office performance, the PG-rated film still received positive reviews from critics.

The original action-adventure film is described as a nod to pulp magazines, popular fiction from the first half of the 20th century printed on inexpensive wood pulp paper. The film features the voices of Jake Gyllenhaal, Jaboukie Young-White, Dennis Quaid, Gabrielle Union and Lucy Liu.

"The film dives into a world where fantastical creatures await the legendary Clades, a family of explorers who attempt to navigate a dangerous uncharted land alongside a motley crew that includes a mischievous blob, a dog with three legs and a multitude of ravenous creatures reads the synopsis.

Strange World is co-directed by Don Hall (Big Hero 6) and Qui Nguyen, who previously collaborated on Raya and the Last Dragon last year. It is produced by Roy Conli (Tangled).
