Strictly Come Dancing 2022: comedian Jayde Adams joins the lineup

Comedian Jayde Adams has been announced as the fifth contestant to compete in this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

She joins actors Kym Marsh and Will Mellor, Kaye Adams from Loose Women and Richie Anderson from Radio 2.

"I can't begin to express the emotions that I feel," she said in a statement. "It means so much to me and my family."

The dance competition is set to return to BBC One in September.

Jayde Adams, who currently performs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, has won several comedy awards and is also an actor.

She said that she had been a "huge fan" of the show for years.

"I always watched it, apart from a brief hiatus in 2011 when I played tirelessly every weekend (trying to hear myself Strictly)", she says.

"I feel like I'm looking at myself in a dream and I can't believe I've manifested That. Holding that in was torture for me!"
