Superhero Bits: New Batman and Spawn Crossover, Joker 2 Adds Cast Member and More

Finally, DC Comics has announced a brand new crossover event titled "Batman Spawn," and yes, it's all in the title. The Caped Crusader will indeed take on Todd McFarlane's Spawn, which will be a major crossover between DC and Image Comics. As for the story? DC's brief login line reveals, "After sitting on the sidelines for nearly 20 years, the Court of Owls are stepping in to try and use Spawn to defeat Batman." McFarlane is teaming up with Greg Capullo on the crossover, which is slated to arrive in December.

McFarlane had this to say about it:

"Listen, it's really simple. I'm playing one of the greatest comic book characters of all time (Batman), I'm reuniting with amazing artist Greg Capullo, AND I can mixing my own creation (Spawn) into the script. These are the types of projects that many of us creators in the comics industry only get involved with a few times in our careers."

The other good news is that the two previous character crossovers, "Spawn/Batman" by Frank Miller and Todd McFarlane and "Batman/Spawn: War Devil" will be collected and released as as "Batman/Spawn: The Classic Collection" on November 15 as well. Look out for the first issue of "Batman Spawn" to hit shelves December 13, 2022.
