A teenager on a school trip abroad has died after learning his symptoms were simply 'sick for homes'.

Timothy Fehring, from Victoria, Australia, was on an overseas trip with Blackburn High School when he felt unwell.

During the school trip to Vienna, Austria, the 15-year-old repeatedly vomited into street bins as he battled illness - but was encouraged to continue participating in planned activities.< /p>

Tim sadly passed away on June 28, 2019, after an infection that spread to his lungs and blood likely caused his heart to stop, reports .

A coroner's report revealed that Tim had difficulty taking a walking tour of Vienna the afternoon before his death.

Tim was pale, had bags under his eyes, and carried a sick bag with him as he left.

The report found that although the teachers made the wrong call about Tim's complaints - deeming them not serious enough for him to stop going on the tour, they were acting on the medical advice they had received and could not have prevented the death of the teenager.< /p>

Tim's mother, Barbara Fehring, has since told News Corp, "He was very, very sick, but he wanted to keep going.

"He had a lot of respect, the way we taught him to respect adults. So if someone in a position of authority said something to him, he would never question it."

Tim had asked that he be taken to hospital, but the teachers on the trip believed that was an excuse to get out of the planned activities since Tim had already seen a doctor who suggested his symptoms might be caused by homesickness.

The teenager had seen a doctor in Germany earlier during the school trip, who told him that his symptoms of vomiting and loss of appetite could simply be signs of homesickness or constipation.

Tim was again taken to see a doctor while in Austria, who said he should not continue the journey and should be flown home.

While the bill for his doctor's appointment was being paid, Tim collapsed outside the doctor's office.
