A teenager whose grandmother died alone in a nursing home after catching Covid has slammed Matt Hancock and vowed 'never' to forgive him.

Maddie McCarthy, 15, said she was horrified to see the MP join the cast of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!

"I was disgusted because I never had the chance to say goodbye to my grandmother and I never will, thanks to him," she told the Mirror.

His grandmother, Patricia Gracias, 83, a former primary school teacher, died in May 2020 after a Covid patient was sent from hospital to her Manchester nursing home.

An outbreak of Covid then swept through the care home, infecting other residents, Maddie explained.

“It broke my family,” she told the Mirror. “My grandmother died of Covid alone and on her birthday.
