The Best and Worst Doctor Who Fashions - Ranked!

14. Matt Smith >Matt Smith, the doctor from 2010 to 2013, with Karen Gillan

Matt Smith might have the most memorable doctor costume in years – and not in a good way. Thanks to that bow tie, suspenders and tweed jacket, he looked like a cross between the lost fifth member of the Libertines and a comic book mad scientist. It was apparently Smith's work: he chose the bow tie because it was reminiscent of a suit worn by Patrick Troughton in the late 60s.

13. Peter Davison Img Alt = "Peter Davison, Doctor from 1981 to 1984" src = "https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/dd760c55bc23580cbc3eac52bae686dd9eabde1e/0_929_1848_1109/master/1848.jpg? 445 & Quality = 85 & DPR =1 &s =none" width="445" height="267.04816017316017" loading="lazy" class="dcr-evn1e9"/>

In the early 80s, the eccentricity of Doctor Who aesthetics was changing – and, one might say, struggling. Davison's look is the result. An Edwardian cricket outfit - complete with umpire hat and striped trousers - is a curiosity. Add the unexplained bodice and celery ball in Davison's pocket and the entire look seems a little 'kerazy' consciously.
