Trailer for Final Episodes of 'The Walking Dead' Reveals Premiere Date, First Look at Ending

AMC has finally set the premiere date and released the trailer for the final episodes of "The Walking Dead".

The remaining eight episodes of the long-running zombie series' 11th and final season will begin airing October 2 on AMC. The cable channel revealed this news, along with the trailer for "The Walking Dead" Season 11C on Friday during the show's Hall H panel at Comic-Con in San Diego.

Season 11 of “The Walking Dead” consists of 24 episodes in total, which AMC has chosen to roll out over two years. Part A aired from August 22 to October 22. February 10, 2021 and part B from February 20 to April 10, 2022.

According to AMC's description for 'The Walking Dead' Season 11C, "In the upcoming final episodes of 'The Walking Dead,' threats lurk around every corner, dead and alive, as each group continue to be caught up in situations that are out of control. The impending pressure is coming to a head towards a day of reckoning for all. Will the sum of their individual journeys add up into one, or will it divide them forever? »

Hosted by Chris Hardwick, SDCC's final panel for "The Walking Dead" featured stars Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Christian Serratos, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, Seth Gilliam, Josh McDermitt, Michael James Shaw, Cailey Fleming and Lauren Ridloff, as well as "Walking Dead" franchise chief content creator Scott Gimple, current "Walking Dead" showrunner and executive producer Angela Kang, and executive producer, director, and special effects makeup supervisor Greg Nicotero.

When asked how he felt attending his final Comic-Con panel for the series, Reedus replied, "I just want to cry and hang out with everyone at the same time."

McBride then started crying during the emotional panel, and Reedus came over to comfort her with a big hug. Gimple also revealed that for the wrap party, the production put together a video with a one-second clip of each episode, starting with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) waking up and ending with the final scene (which they cannot discuss for obvious reasons). Later in the panel, Lincoln and fellow 'Walking Dead' alum Danai Gurira took the stage to announce they would be reprising their roles as Rick and Michonne to star in a six-part limited series on AMC+ the year next. This show will replace the previously announced movies starring Lincoln as Grimes, which are no longer AMC forward movies.

Ahead of “The Walking Dead” swansong panel, AMC hosted the first-ever Comic-Con panel for its spin-off anthology series “Tales of the Walking Dead,” which premieres August 14.
