Witcher series creator says Henry Cavill will receive a heroic sendoff

While season three wasn't intended to be Henry Cavill's last hurrah as a character, Lauren Hissrich says the timing works oddly, with season 3 largely being an adaptation of "Time of Contempt ", one of the most action-packed. entries in Andrzej Sapkowski's "Witcher" series. This means Cavill is getting "a heroic send off", according to the showrunner.

Geralt is somewhat of a loner as a character and part of his arc is that he begins to care for a young woman in his charge, a character shift that has been building over the first three seasons that will leave Geralt a different man by the start of the fourth season. With Cavill gone, that "different man" angle is now literal rather than figurative.

That said, Liam Hemsworth seems to have a passion for the character, just like his predecessor, and his enthusiasm for stepping into this world is evident in his brief statement about his casting:

"As a fan of 'Witcher', I'm thrilled at the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an amazing Geralt, and I'm honored to have him give me the reins and allowing me to take on the blades of the white wolf for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I have been a fan of yours for years and have been inspired by what you have brought to this beloved character. I have maybe some big boots to fill, but I'm really excited to step into the world of 'Witcher'."

All that remains is to see him in the white wig, swinging his silver sword at monsters and casting spells to see if he succeeds or not. We'll all find out in "The Witcher" Season 4.
