TikTok star 'Tami Elizabeth' takes Shein to task - again

Earlier this year, TikTok star "Tami Elizabeth" was more than surprised to see what seemed to be her likeness on a Shein dress.

In response to this, she claimed she emailed the company to inquire about the artist and send two and-forbearance letters after receiving advice about it from a lawyer. The stylist and designer, whose first name is Tamara Strzelecki, said she was surprised again after receiving an invitation to collaborate with 'Shein Curvee' as an influencer.

The TikTok star first spoke with WWD in January about the situation. On Thursday, she shared with WWD an email exchange from a Shein Curvee address dated March 16. The email said in part, “We @SHEIN are launching our new clothing brand and we noticed that you were a fan of our work and we observed your profile and you qualified for a collaboration with us.” In exchange for beacons, the email offered Strzelecki free monthly packages of eight items of his choice and discount codes to share among other incentives.

In addition to being a popular TikTok personality with 7.9 million likes, Strzelecki has an activity profitable online, Sugs' Boutique. Although he's been in business for 15 years, he became a hit last year after one of his prep videos - for a visit to his therapist - went viral with more than a million views.

Regarding the offer to collaborate with Shein Curvee, she told WWD: "I'm a size 2, not curvy material. I replied with a photo of me in the dress and stated that I had reached out several times asking for more information on the design and I received an offer to collaborate?" and shared their response via email to this address.

When asked about the offer, Emily Workman, Shein Group's director of corporate communications, said Thursday: "While we can confirm that there has been no contact with this individual regarding a partnership with Shein, we have been made aware of recent email scams falsely claiming to be from our company. We encourage others to remain vigilant regarding emails claiming to be from Shein offering or soliciting services.”

As to whether Shein would comment on Tami's claims that her likeness was used for a dress and cease-and-desist requests sent to the company earlier this year, Workman said, "We have nothing to share at this time."

When asked about Shein's explanation, Strzelecki replied, "I can't verify if the company was really Shein or not. I just got the email with Shein Curvee, the one that was forwarded to you. That's the only correspondence I've received from anyone at Shein."
